About Our School

Pugliese West Elementary School is a new era of learning in Steubenville, designed to serve students and meet the needs of a growing school community.

The school was built as part of the Steubenville City School District’s building program in the early 2000s, replacing Buena Vista Elementary School and bringing students together in a state-of-the-art educational environment. Named in honor of the Pugliese family, longtime supporters of education and the Steubenville community, Pugliese West opened its doors in 2005.

Designed with today’s learners in mind, the school features updated classrooms, technology resources, collaborative learning spaces, and facilities that support both academic achievement and student activities. The building became part of a district-wide effort to provide safer, more efficient, and more innovative spaces for children.

Since opening, Pugliese West Elementary has continued the tradition of excellence found throughout Steubenville’s schools. It serves as a place where students develop strong foundations in literacy, mathematics, science, and social learning while building connections with teachers, families, and the wider community.

Although newer than many of Steubenville’s historic school buildings, Pugliese West carries forward the same mission that has guided local education for generations: creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and succeed.
